Did you know about the sore throat test and treat scheme?

It allows community pharmacists to assess patients over the age of six with a sore throat.

During the assessment, the pharmacist will decide whether it is appropriate to swab your throat and, if so, the result will determine if the sore throat is due to a bacterial infection.

If the test is carried out, you will only need to wait a few moments to receive the result.

Following the result, the pharmacist may provide treatment if it is necessary or they may offer self-care advice instead.

The scheme is available in a number of community pharmacies across Swansea Bay. Please ask your local pharmacy to check if it is available there.
